Repair Shops (we like)

We are establishing a list of Repair Shops that are familiar with the BMW reverse failure and will fix the problem at a better price than the BMW dealerships.

California
Dose BMW Services - 619.322.3065
I am a regional distributor for ZF industries. I have all the necessary inventory to repair all of the complaints on the 5hp24 and the 5hp19 at a much more better value than what I've seen on your website. I can also supply you information on what is causing the failures. You can reach me by email or call my cell phone 619-322-3065. All calls concerning questions about ZF transmissions or BMWs in general are welcome. You can reference my credentials on the ZF website. I've done over 200 repairs on the 5hp19 reverse problem alone. I was informed of your website by a customer that just had their 5hp19 reverse repaired at our shop. My website is dosebmw.com. Unfortunately, we are currently updating the website so it won't be available to view for a couple of weeks. Please feel free to contact me or have any of your complainants contact me at any time.
Thank You,
Steve Dose - President Dose BMW service, Inc.

Florida
Florida Transmission Repair - 407-737-0115  website

We have been able to fix these lower mileage units for around
$1400-$1600.00 Of course these are units with all forward gears ok and
no codes, just labor to remove the transmission, replace the d/g drum and
clutches, replace all the necessary seals, gaskets, filter, and fluid.

Foreign Car Service Inc - Dayton OH   (unverified by noreverse.org)
We have repaired several ZF 5HP19 transmissions with the broken reverse drum problem. The transmissions DO NOT have to be replaced. It's just that BMW dealers are not allowed to do extensive internal transmission repairs because it's simpler, faster and more profitable to replace the entire unit with a remanufactured transmission.
As an independent repair shop specializing in BMWs, we have no such restrictions. The typical cost for the repair has been about $1800. That's assuming the car has reasonable mileage and the internals are not completely trashed. In every case (so far) we reuse most of the internal parts and have only had to replace the broken drum and a few minor pieces, plus the filter and fluid.
We are a Bosch Authorized Service Center, members of BIMRS.org and BMWCCA.
